#63: Decide based on facts.
“Better Workflows” is getting better. I am trying a new format for this issue.
Just wanted to give more value (and cut bull shits) in a short (reading) time.

🧠Cognitive Bias
Cognitive Bias is a systematic thought process caused by the tendency of the human brain to simplify information processing through a filter of personal experience and preferences.
Why? The brain can handle huge amounts of data, faster if it is biased.
We prefer to (filter and) select a few pieces of information (because processing everything will be nearly impossible, and takes too much time),
we give more weightage to something over another (based on emotions),
and we decide based on our previous experience (often). But not based on data and facts. (because it is easy)
all of us are victims of these congnitive biases.
It comes in all shapes and sizes.
Here’s the infographic version of 50 Cognitive biases (and forms of biases). 1
Take your time. If it is not satiating, here is the list of every single cognitive bias in one infographic.

For Team Productivity: Prefer 📝Memos over meetings
“Back to back meetings only create an illusion of productivity.”
Memos save a lot of time. Both yours and others.
Encourage async communication within your team.
Reduce the numbers and frequency of meetings if your team’s working on designing, creating, or developing.
Creators need to be in their “flow state” to produce more. Managers must know when to disturb the creators and when not to. Better go ‘async’.

Emery (app) → Notes, Tasks, and Events
Go from hectic to effective with emery.to – the digital planner that simplifies your routine.
I don’t know why no one is talking about this app. It does a better job of combining notes, tasks, and calendars in one place.
Oasis → A.I. powered voice memo app
Just open the app and hit record. The AI sums up and synthesizes your own words rather than generating text from thin air ala ChatGPT. It’s more useful than prior transcription apps in that it synthesizes, and summarizes what you say. read more here…

📽 Trying Not to Try
My best-ever philosophy backed by neural science is to do things in the flow. Trying to control things vs. trying to flow with them.
The more you want to control, the more it will go out of your control.
aka. the Law of Reverse Effect or Backwards Law.
But Edward Slingerland has a first-hand experience of seeing things that can’t be controlled if you want to control them.
📰 Benefits of optimism (is actually a science)
